Past experience tells me that word of mouth is the easiest way to go about setting up joint venture partners.  Having friends to Spread the word around about what it is you offer and the kind of people you want to work with.  This can be challenging however depending on who is, or isn’t in your circle of influence.

Another way is to run solo ads, banner ads, or pay per click ads in the proper areas. All of that said the best recommendation is by events, or Meetup groups.  Surrounding yourself with other Entrepreneurs who have connections that will help build your business.

We all know the old 5 second rule.  If you drop food on the floor and pick it up within five seconds it is still ok to eat.

I don’t know about you friend, I never bought into that one!

If it’s on the floor, one second or 1 hour there is still dirt there.  So what is the new five second rule?  Well it has nothing to do with food.

This is about taking action and you moving forward quickly.  For instance ever been working and had a fantastic idea pop into your mind?  Then for whatever reason you put off taking action on it…

This is heading toward the new 5 second rule.  Millions of brilliant ideas are lost every day because we put them off and then forget what they were.

There is really two ways to remedy this issue:

1. Drop what you are doing and act on that idea NOW!  If your idea sounds that good in your mind it probably is.
2. If you can’t, for whatever reason drop what you are doing and act now, write down ar record the idea immediately.

The reason #2 is there hey sometimes we simply can’t drop what we are doing and act on and idea no matter how good it sounds.

Myself for instance, most of my epiphanies happen when I’m driving.  If this sounds like you…

PULL OVER AND WRITE IT DOWN!

You can keep a small voice recorder handy to record your idea, or most cell phones have a built in voice recorder that will work.

Then when you get home the data is there for you.  Try this for a week and you will be amazed at your results.

Are You Holding Yourself Accountable?

Are you holding yourself accountable or turning yourself into a victim?

Yes this is a pretty strong question to ask yet the answer is critical.  This is something that can truly effect your success in life, business and pretty much everything.

This entire post goes to your mind set as an Entrepreneur and how anything in your life, business or personal can have a positive or negative effect on it.

Accountability has a major impact on success, by that what I mean is this…

If something goes wrong in your life are you holding yourself accountable for it or pointing your finger at someone else and making yourself a victim?

To explain this I am going to share a personal story with you…

Most of my regular readers already know that my wife Lisa and I are in the process of relocating our family from Chesterfield Michigan to Ponte Vedra Florida.

One of the major hurdles we have in doing this in our current economy is selling ourhome and my parents house which I inherited when my father passed away in January of this year.

We have sold our home so one down one to go!

A few weeks ago we had a BIG road block thrown in front of us in selling my parents house.  Someone broke into the house, shut off the main water valve and stole all the copper plumbing out of the house!

Not that there could ever be a good time for this to happen but as I sit here typing this post we are 32 days from moving 1100 miles south and I am still working on repairing the damage.

Now when I first found out this happened I was pissed!!!

A natural reaction perhaps but not a good emotion.  I started blaming people.  My Realtor for calling me to tell me there may be a problem at the house but not to worry he would go check out the house.  Only to find the damage myself several days later because he didn’t have enough common sense to walk down stairs and check the basement, he only walked through the 1st floor of the house.

My Realtor again for putting the cheesy lock box on the front door that allowed the thieves to break in in the first place.

And of course the Police for being no where around while it happened.

Now maybe those all sound like reasonable thoughts, maybe you are thinking you would have felt the same but here is where I was dead wrong.

IT WAS ALL MY FAULT!!!

I’ll get to that in a second.  Fortunately I didn’t have this perspective very long because frankly it was draining both physically and mentally.  I was angry, depressed and had (temporarily at least) turned myself into a victim.  How?

I did not take accountability for the problem I blamed other people.

As Entrepreneurs we are in the business of getting results, positive results to be specific.  Was that initial mind set of finger pointing going to bring me a good result?  NO!  Again it was sucking all my energy away.

As stated above it was all my fault this happened and the second I came back to that reality I got my power back and was no longer a victim.

I let the Realtor put the cheesy lock box on the door so I didn’t have to drive 20 miles to the house every time there was a showing.

I let the Realtor go check out the house, even if he had enough common sense to check the entire house it is my house and my responsibility NOT HIS!

As for the police, not sure what made me think they would be around.

The real moral of the story is we are responsible for EVERYTHING that happens in our lives!

Good or bad, whether we do it or someone else does it to us.  Because if someone else botches things up for you, you gave them the ability to do it!

Holding yourself accountable gives you power and control and positive results.  Blaming and finger pointing makes you a victim, creates negative results and nothing good will ever come from it.

 The conspiracy against your money, is it real?  Or is it just a conspiracy theory?

Everyone knows that our economy is in the toilet.  Have you REALLY looked into why?

This really isn’t about our current or last few US presidents, most of the problems we face now were actually started back in the early 1970’s when the United States and the bulk of the rest of the world switched over to fiat currency.

What is fiat currency you ask?

If your old enough or collect old currency you will remember that our coins were once made of silver and our bills were backed by gold and silver meaning they were not just paper but had something of VALUE backing them up.  The Picture to the right shows an example of a 1923 $1 silver certificate.

This is where the conspiracy against your money began…

1971 changed the landscape of our future by allowing the Federal Reserve Bank to print money pretty much “at will” with nothing of value backing it up.  This is why we are experiencing so much volatility in stocks, commodities and even precious metals.

Reason one is that you are already familiar with what is happening and how to get your money back!

Reason two would be that you are in denial about the conspiracy against your money and have chosen to look the other way. 

I love that this video uses the red pill / blue pill example from “The Matrix” and I’ll get back to that soon.

Too many of us have watched our IRA’s and 401′s diminish in value over the last few years and many scratch their heads and wonder “Where did my money disapear to?”

If you are one of these people I assure you that your money did not disapear it simply moved!  That’s right my friend, it went from your pocket to somebody else’s. 

Money never vanishes, it moves.

You may have noticed the value of Gold and Silver are rising at staggering rates. 

What that tells is that the value of the dollar is dropping so it takes more of our currency to purchase presious metals. 

To illustrate this the image on the left shows you what Gold values have done over the last ten years.

Why?  Because nobody trusts the US dollar.  With nothing of REAL VALUE backing it up our money isn’t much more than over glorified toilet paper!

Now back to “The Matrix”. 

You have a choice, take the “Red Pill” and go about your life thinking this is just a conspiracy theory and ignore it.  Or take the “Blue Pill” and not only learn about the conspiracy against your money but …

From a mind set perspective the word “try” is the second most negative word in the English language, a close second to the word “can’t”.

These two words (and many others) wreak havoc on our subconscious minds.  I think many people take their subconscious mind for granted and it is one of your most powerful recourses.  It works 24 hours a day 7 days per week.  It can work for you or against you!

 The word “can’t” is nearly self explanatory, the second you say to your self “I can’t” your subconscious literally shuts down because you told it there was no hope.  Instead of “I can’t” ask yourself “How can I?”.

 Now that’s a different lesson altogether so lets hit today’s topic of the word “try”.

 Hear me out on this one.  The reason “try’ is a negative word is you have essentially given yourself permission to fail.  How could that ever be acceptable.  If you break down what it means to say “I’ll try” that really means:

“Ok, I’m going to attempt something.  If I succeed, great! If I fail that’s ok also”.

Reality is that failure is part of success, no real way around it.  Every time I fail at anything I fell one step closer to succeeding.  But does that make failing ok?  I say absolutely not!

Your best advice is not to try anything, JUST FREAKIN DO IT!

Why give yourself permission to fail before you even begin?

There is a dream, a dream inside all of us.  There is no right or wrong dream to have and there is no one persons dream that is more special than another.  Every dream is unique and special to the person who desires its outcome.

That being said the dream we will cover in this article is a very special dream…    Yours!

Here are a few things to have in your mind that can help you go from having a dream, to owning your dream or making it a reality.

First things first let’s go over one really important phrase I have heard that is very much the truth when it comes to realizing a dream….

The only thing stopping us from realizing our dreams is ourselves.

And that my friend is the truth!  Good or bad we are responsible for our outcomes, no one else gets the credit or the blame.  Most people are quick to blame others for their short comings if something does not go their way.  Remember the statement above, don’t point fingers, take responsibility and you will be closer to your desired outcome.

Have you ever heard the old adage every one is self made but only the wealthy admit it?  

Why? 

Because they take responsibility for their results and never point fingers at someone else.  It astounds me at times, how a lot of people will try and wiggle out of taking responsibility for something even when they know it is the principle cause of failure.

Many times people are not willing to accept responsibility for their errors as it may leave them feeling like a failure.  Let me assure you NOTHING could be further from the truth.

Thomas Edison had over 1000 failed attempts at creating the first light bulb, if he had felt that way and quit we may all be sitting in the dark now.

Being responsible to your self is one of the primary keys to unlocking the doors of success.  Live your life and run your business from this mind set and doors will surely begin to open.

There is a tide in your affairs, which, when taken at the flood, will lead you on to fortune and success. 

By the law of periodical repetition, everything which has happened once must happen again and again and again, not capriciously, but at regular periods, and each thing in it’s own period, and each obeying its own law. 
 
As events tend to repeat themselves, the tide of opportunity will come to you.

Be prepared and your chance for success is sure to come.  Seize an opportunity to change your life.  You can change chance into good fortune if you are ready.  Without change we will not grow, without growth we can not succeed so embrace change!
 
Look around you. The only sure thing about your luck is that it will change.  Both success and failure are temporary.
